U.P. Football All-Star Game

Mission: The U.P. Football All-Star Game will showcase U.P. high school football and give the fans an opportunity to enjoy a competitive game between the U.P.'s best graduating seniors. The U.P. Football All-Star Game will provide a positive environment for all who participate and allow the players and coaches to experience the excitement and camaradarie involved with an All-Star event.

Charity: All-Star Game proceeds will be donated to the following U.P. organizations: The Beacon House Food Pantry will receive all food collected during the food drive, the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame scholarship program, school lottery (U.P. high school football programs will be randomly drawn to receive donations from the game; 2011: Escanaba & West Iron County), practice jerseys given to two U.P. football teams (North Central-white/red jerseys & Marquette-red/white jerseys), new footballs split between the two head coaches (Calumet & Pickford: 18 footballs each). Participants: U.P. Senior Football Players - 2011 Graduates (Invite only)

Number of Players: Approximately 40 players per team

Player Selection Process: Players selected with input from all U.P. high school coaches and U.P. sportswriters (All-Conference Teams and All-U.P. Teams considered).  There is no limit to the number of players from any particular school.  Once the teams are selected, players will receive an invitation to participate in the game.  If the player accepts the invitation, he will be sent an informational packet detailing the specifics of the game, the week's itinerary and the expectations of each player.  If he declines the invitation, the next player at that position will be invited.

Number of Coaches: 6-8 coaches per team

Coach Selection Process: Coaches will be selected at the completion of the playoffs.  It is the hope of the U.P. Football All-Star Game that all U.P. coaches will take turns coaching the game, so everyone gets a chance to be involved and all schools and conferences are represented.

Skills Challenge: Players
Players compete in a variety of skills (Fastest Man, Strongest Man, Receiver Challenge, Quarterback Challenge, Punting, Kicking). Open to the public.

Bowling Challenge: Coaches
Coaches enjoyed some bowling due to weather conditions that did not allow for a round of golf.

What: Physical testing of athletes, results sent to colleges across the country
       Participants receive a free ticket to the U.P. Football All-Star Game.

Post-Game Awards:
Most Valuable Player (offense and defense) & Character Award from each team will be selected by each team's coaches and receive a plaque.  Championship traveling trophy will be presented to the winning coach.  The winning team (East or West) may pass the trophy to other schools from the winning team throughout the following year. Practice Schedule: Practices will be held at Northern Michigan University (indoors and outdoors).  Practice will be held two times per day and the team coaches will determine the exact schedule and meeting times.
